In 2028, all 19 seats on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners will be on the ballot. That happens once every four years, and it's the biggest opportunity residents will have to change who represents them.

Where we are

I Am Oakland County began as a recall campaign after Oakland County Commission Chair Dave Woodward pushed forward a vote to approve Flock surveillance drones without first allowing public comment. During the recall, thousands of residents showed up, signed, knocked on doors, and spoke at public meetings. That effort showed us how many people in this county want a real voice in the decisions that affect their lives and elected officials who listen. The recall has ended, but the movement hasn't. We're taking everything we learned and putting it toward the 2028 election when all 19 seats on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners will be on the ballot. Learn more about our story→

Why this matters

County commissioners decide how your tax dollars are spent, what surveillance technology gets funded, and whether programs like legal aid and food assistance get support. Too often, residents show up, speak up, and are voted against anyway. We think that has to change, and the ballot is where that happens. Learn more about the Oakland County Commission→

How we'll do it

Oakland County residents are paying attention, and they're done being ignored. We're not backing down. We're gearing up and here's how:

Community Building. We'll continue to grow the community that's been showing up and advocating for our county. We'll be having regular social hours as well as educational opportunities to keep you informed and engaged.

What we look for in candidates

We're backing candidates who share three commitments:

Pro-privacy. They'll protect residents' data, privacy rights, and freedom from unnecessary surveillance.

Pro-people. They'll make budgets and votes that reflect what residents actually need and ask for.

Pro-Democracy. They'll support open meetings, meaningful public comment, and honest, accountable government.

Commissioners who consistently listen to the public and vote accordingly will have our respect. Those who don't should expect a challenger. Learn more about our values→
